My stage 2 107 will run circles around a TC110. Its a late 2018 model and no issues. Sumping mostly only occurred on stage 3 builds due to increased crank case pressure.
M8 has a flatter torque curve then comparable TC engines. You can see that on @fuelmoto website, and when you add a stage 2 you get a lot more bang for your buck.
Sorry to disappoint but a stage 2 103 will not even be close to a stock 117.
The key thing I noticed about moving from a twin cam to a M8 was the smoothness and and willing to rev, Im a convert, there is no comparison to how each feels and responds

On a 110 go with the Stage 4 with the SE259 cam and good lifters and decked heads and new valve springs is a great combination. Mikes of smiles. No need for a new bike after that.

I agree with this. I have the SE Stage 4 117 race kit in my 13 CVO Ultra and it's loads of fun for way less money than getting a new bike. Paired with a good air cleaner of your choice and full exhaust and it's more than making me happy daily. I rode the 107 RG when I was in Deadwood for a day, rented from EagleRider, and I missed my bike every time I twisted the throttle to get up to speed. Was it smooth, yes, did it have more gadgets, not really. The CVO and 117 kit spoiled me for HD's now.
There is a lot of information to digest here and thank you for all the responses. It looks like the bike I've settled on is a 2017 CVO Ultra with a 114 in it. Any thoughts on this one? Good, bad, easy to upgrade?
personally I don't really get the whole thing about " running circles" or which beats what. I have a hell of a lot of miles of saddle time and guess what. Some of my buddies with 58 HP evos ride right alongside of me on my TC 103 and we both ride just fine with a few of the guys that spent big dollars in performance mods in their 114 M8s. Don't get me wrong performance upgrades are awesome and I plan on a fueling cam chest kit for my TC 103, But mostly to get a upgraded oil pump and adjustable push rods that will hopefully reduce some of the typical TC engine noise. If I get some power that's great but, in the end my buddy and his 58 HP evo will continue to be just fine riding with me.
