pffft. i'm only 5'4'', and i can reach the radio just fine. not to mention, there are thumb controls that control everything. there is no reason to actually have to touch the radio if you don't want to. i prefer not to. i like to keep fingerprints off the screen.

If it's windy, you'll feel it on either bike. I think the RG riders use that OPINION to sometimes justify why they bought it. 🤔 To each their own. Both fine rides. You'll love either one.

i know that the wife and i (she rides her own) have been on rides where someone has commented on 'how brutal the wind is', and we've just looked at each other like, 'what wind?'.

Just buy the SG, don't think twice.

I never touch my radio/nav screen either. Everything happens via the thumb controls. I like the higher position of the screen on our RG....it's almost like having a head-up display such as my truck has.

Your money, your butt….ride them both and make an informed decision…
having owned a few of each, I prefer the SG…mostly looks and it suits me better. I feel the I radio screen is to far away from me, for my tastes…others won’t think so. That’s why you should ride both and decide for yourself. Both a fine motorcycles and will suit your needs quite well.

and for what it’s worth, I’ve ridden in all lower 48 states and owned both…tastes differ, that’s why they make both.

Now the new RG3 should be killer, lighter front end feel and steering…but I haven’t ridden one I can’t say.

You would have to share your riding experience with a faring , I love the look but after 2 decades on a soft tail I went with a road king so I could see the ground in front of me and not be focused down the road as much , good luck and enjoy

I rode an Ultra Limited (batwing) for nine years prior to purchasing my Road Glide. I loved the Limited, it was a great bike. I've always liked the looks of the new RG fairing and I knew that when I was to buy another Harley, it would be one of those. Slow-speed maneuvering is better, but my new bike has a lower center of gravity because of its lower ride height and no tour pack, so maybe that contributes to this. I also use the hand controls for the infotainment. So far I like it as well if not a little better than the batwing. I do like the looks better for sure. Haven't been on a long ride yet but I'm sure I'll like the way the fairing handles the wind.

Still not convinced that having to rely so much on thumb controls for the radio would make me happy. However, to each his own. I can think of one advantage to the more distant radio of the RG in that I now have invested in sunglasses with readers built in to see up close. The radio pushed further out might alleviate the need for the readers... Other than that it seems like the endless Apple vs Microsoft or iPhone vs Android debates. It's probably best to just get out and ride each of them a lot pre-purchase to decide which works for you before putting money down.

Here's a guy who gave the RG a try and decided it wasn't for him:

You are correct about less of a need for near correction in your glasses with the infotainment farther away (I'm in that business LOL!). I've had progressive lenses in my riding glasses for some time now. I got used to using the hand controls for the infotainment on my last bike due to all the fingerprints I got using the touch screen, so for me the change to the Road Glide was easy.
