I like the Ohlins, and am still looking to do the fronts, although my '13 King is limited to the FKC-101.
its a tough call, im sure the damping rods can be adjusted to way better than what they are, im still on the what if factor, or buy once cry once. for as good of a year as im having the front will possibly get sone sooner than next winter.

The issue I have is, originally my King is lowered 1" front and rear with the profile low H-D shocks. Then Howard built some 12" shocks with 3" of stroke for the rear. I must say they are nice for what my riding style is. I currently have progressive monotubes up front with the lowering kit, but also have 21" wheels, so the monotubes are lowered even further.
Ohlins has a std lowering kit for the front cartridges and Ohlins says I'll need special springs to also accommodate the 21" wheels.I'm also looking at some JRI for the front and their main center is a 1/2 hour ride from me. So, still on the fence.
i took the wife out for a spin today, the increase in travel is awesome. i didnt touch anything else and theyre hands down better than the progressives they replaced. ill mess with them in 2 weeks when i get off work, make sure the preloads right and go from there. i dont know if they were set up for 2 up or solo, but theyre for sure better.
i bought from mike at kyle racing east and yes it was for a little less than the 1049 msrp.
I love my Ohlins suspension and purchased them from a trusted shop where my engine was tuned. They also rebuild Ohlins which I do every other year or every 30,000 miles. I have over 100,000 miles on my bike since I made the switch. Great product and worth the money.
I bought a set of the HD044's last year, and bought them straight through Ohlins USA. Very nice to work with. IIRC, the guys name was Jerry, and we talked about overall weight, type of riding and so on.
Was able to get out yesterday, and watched a vid from Big Bear Performance for optimal adjustment settings. Correct preload with15 clicks from out from full in, on the rebound and compression. This alone improved the ride. I experimented with 16 clicks out from full in on rebound....more plush.
Ultimately, I've had shocks from Hagon, Bitubo (my wife's bike), RWD and now the Ohlins HD 044's. The HD 044's are without a doubt, the nicest shocks I've yet used.
