Its a 20 year old bike, with high miles. Granted I got 70 and 90 on mine, its still high miles. It has cool/loud paint, but thats only a selling point to the right person.
That year had the Magneti-Marelli EFI system.... I would suggest you walk away, unless you are familiar with that MM EFI system enough to work on it yourself...
People who understand it are getting scarce and parts are getting hard to find.... Sooner or later it is going to need some attention... There are many who are swapping it out for a carb at the first sign of trouble... That's not a cheap or easy swap to do, and can get real expensive if you have to pay a shop to do it...
#65 of 150. I dont know how many are here in the states. It definitely turns heads everywhere I take it. Guy wants to trade me 2010 Road King in red straight up.
Wow, 2010 red king and you want to trade for a 2000. That aint no straight up trade in my neck of the woods. In fact, youd get a pretty fancy label around here.
Unless you have well over 100,000 miles on your 2010 red king. Then maybe it is a break even.
Just saying, sounds like you got an itch, grass is greener syndrome. Hope you feel better in the morning.
That paint, in spring, could bring above book. IMO,50+k in mileage is not high
mileage. 80-90k is getting up
there.
KBB prices are sometimes off.
But we’ll see if the market for used machines is soft
this year. I’m thinking not
I agree, I don't consider 54k miles as "high mileage" for a 20 year old bike.
That equates to aprox. 2,350 miles per year.
On a bike that's only a couple of years old...yes.
If it was me, I would be giving very strong consideration to the proposed swap!
I for one have admired that paint job for years.
Best of luck to you.

Good luck with your decision...
OP is the owner of the 2000 model, is wondering if he should trade it straight up for a 2010 model. I would.
