Default Road King Special nacelle gap

So I changed the bars on my RKS (this thing fought me every single possible step of the way), and now that I've finally got it back together I have a gap between the two halves of the nacelle on the bottom. No matter how I shift things around, what sequence I tighten things... I cannot get the gap to go
away. This is driving me nuts!

hate to say it, but you're going to have to separate it again. if you can't get the gap closed up, there's a wire (or something) in the way somewhere.

Remove the ring and slightly loosen the headlight bucket screws then reinstall and the ring should be able to pull together. You might need to do it twice but it will work, it allows the ring to slip in a little closer to the OEM parts.

Looks like one of the pins in the nacelle isn't seating properly . Had this problem when I did my bars , make sure the bolts on each side are loose when aligning the nacelle , tighten the side bolts , then install the headlight .

And check for wiring that may have gotten in the way .

Another victim here, I had to adjust my headlight ring to close up the nacelle gap ,

PIA, but I just could not live with it looking wrong.

There are 2 alignment dowel pins. They must be aligned. I can see one pin in your picture. Get someone to help align the two halves and pins and hold them in place. Then tighten the acorn nuts on the outside of the light bracket.

But before you do that put the screw on the fork lock cover with the flat washer and nut. Slide the screw with the nut and washer below (inside) the cavity (between the two halves) with the cover on top to the gap where it fits. This will save you from trying to put the nut and washer on later, which is a bit of a chore.
