My new Amazon King Tour Pack
I seen HD and AB TourPacks. They are almost identical. In-fact, I couldn't tell or "feel" any differences just by touching them both, closing, opening...etc.
But Amazon one, that's a different story. First thing, packaging was very good. Came in a nice bag, wrapped in thick spongy blanked on top. As soon as I got a peek at it, I noticed the latches and closing mechanism. Unlike HD and AB that are shiny and match the paint, Amazon ones are duller. No biggy. It's for one time trip. But, I do see some imperfections here and there in paint. You can tell looking at couple spots, but for less than $200, I can't be that picky. They also included liner, which I can see it will work good.
Closing, opening, just like in reviews. Not as smooth as factory. You have to kind of "make it" fit to the hinge.
The plastic is definitely thinner. That's not even close and it's obvious as soon as you knock on it or just open/close the lid.
It will work fine for me. But if I ever think about going with chopped one for full time riding, it will 100% be from HD. The quality is not even close.
Let's hope this thing doesn't fly off my bike on my trip lol
I will post some pics as soon as I get it installed today.
I give it solid 6.7/10 for value alone. If you are going to use it very little and don't care if it gets beat up, I recommend it. Otherwise, as the old saying goes, buy once, cry once.
I went with this one because it didnt have speaker holes drilled out.
I have to say that the liner that comes with it fits very nice.
The only thing is, for the life of me, I cant seem to depin the damn Custom Dynamics too aux light. Since I am doing on up setup without passenger rest, I wanted to drill out the hole on top and feed the wire though to the inside of the tour pack but it seems like the pins are damn stuck in there.
Think about this when making decision about Amazon vs. OEM. They will both work, but OEMs quality and material they use is far superior.
And the left side glovebox was missing the three brass inserts (like the fairing brass inserts for the windshield). They were never inserted into the lowers. So the dealer orders the missing small parts and an entire left side glove box last week.
It all came in this week. The replacement left side glove box was also missing parts, but different parts. In fact, it had loose parts rattling around inside it.
What’s the likelihood of getting two left side glove boxes that were just never finished, but missing different parts, back to back. The monday/friday shift is hitting it hard.
Hopefully third time is the charm. And I have to drive an hour round trip each time I go down there to pick this stuff up.
