Why such a long wait to get parts?
Was looking at these heat shields and they had a back order of 5 weeks when I first started looking at the. Then the back order dropped to 3 weeks then 2 weeks. That's when I ordered them. Then the back order dropped to 1 week, and back up to 2 weeks I called Harley and asked, what's up. I was given the yada yada run down of as soon as they come in the orders will be filled and shipped
Today I look at the site and the back order has dropped to 1 week. Will I get the parts, or will the back order jump back up to 2 or 3 weeks
Same with these I ordered a 2 week back order and put out by Drag Specialties. And like 120 bucks cheaper than Harley.
But Harley has a 7 week back order on these parts
my co-worker has been waiting on a simple small part ( Right hand control switches for a 2015 Dyna) and its been 6 months, we have called several dealerships across the US and haven't been able to find it and if they do have it, they wont ship it to another dealership. and some dealerships do have the part but apparently HD has a policy on not selling parts to another dealership. thats what we were told, i even checked in Scotland UK and they didn't have the part if anyone on here has that part please hit me up. thank you
Not sure why you waited to order. It gives you a place in line for the order so the sooner it's placed, the quicker you should get it. I ordered several chrome pieces from HD a few weeks ago. One was outright canceled by them (it showed a 4-week backorder when I ordered it), and the rest had some level of backorder also. They have been slowly arriving. I found the cancelled part at my dealer (go figure), and just waiting on one more at this point still showing a 4-week backorder.

Welcome to 2023.
I knew the heat shields would be a problem with the two closest dealers. So I ordered straight from Milwaukee. You would think things would be a
little faster coming from the factory.
I guess the boat coming from China had motor trouble or still tied up waiting to get into Long Beach harbor
I guess we're going back to the old AMF days where we have to start building stuff in our garage
