The ‘01 service manual doesn’t have any procedure for R/I of the rubber motor mount.
I’ve done this a couple times on my ‘97… should be the same procedure.
I viewed a YT video and it showed using a ratchet strap around the base of the rear cylinder attached at the crash bars and pulling the engine/trans to the front (he said it moved everything about 1/8” forward) prior to tightening things up.
Yes, same as changing it on your 97 . I don't know about the ratchet strap thing but I tried a Drag Specialty mount on my 06 and it made it uncomfortable to ride from the vibrations. Installed a Harley oem mount and it is much better .
The manual does a poor job of explaining it and I have heard a lot of theories. First time I did it I place jack under engine to gain access. Second time I did it with engine out, which caused problems beause it cause engine to be to high to gain access to bolts. I believe due mount not worn.
I asked a harley mechanic last time about all the stuff i heard. One was running engine with loose to center. He said just center it.
First time was 2009 velva ride, and it always rode bad. Had me stopping and checking fasteners first ride. Last time I went with chinese harley model. There have been a number of upgrades over the years.
