Looking at a 2010 Road Glide
Don't start calling people ******** until you know the lay of the land. The person you alienate, may be someone whom could have had some good advice for you in the future. Personally I never test ride a bike unless I'm serious about buying, but everyone's circumstances are different.
A Street Glide (or Road Glide) is nothing like any bike you've ever ridden. They are nothing like a Sportster. Much heavier and less forgiving of any incompetence in the low speed maneuvering regime. Go ahead and grab that front brake in the middle of a u-turn, and find out.
Planning ahead for turns, braking, et al, requires your undivided attention, as you are dealing with a lot more inertia with an 800lb bike. Most of your stopping power is coming from your front brake at freeway speeds. Don't hit your rear brake too hard, as bagger rear wheels lock up without much effort at 70-80mph...especially in a panic stop.
A stock 2010 SG or RG came with a 96 inch twin cam engine. If it hasn't had any performance modifications, it's going to feel pretty sluggish. I know, because I had this exact bike. I bored mine out to a 103", Wood cams, SE heads, performance intake and exhaust with tuner, and the bike was pretty decent...not nearly as fast as the new baggers, but respectable. The mileage that you mentioned (25-30K) is not a factor. Not sure if they offered ABS back then on those bikes...mine didn't have it.
You didn't tell us what price the old man offered the bike up to you.
