Default State border prompts

Hey folks,

I have searched, and I've searched.... oh wait, that's Social Distortion. Anyway, I've been getting notifications that I'm entering a new state from the navigation system. I find this odd as I rode through several states after flying to pick up my new (to me) ride and don't recall hearing them. Now that I'm back, I have been getting them while crossing between OR & WA. I've tried the search function, but I am having trouble with the one on this site because when I put in a two or three word phrase I get a list for each term. Maybe it's just me, actually it probably is, but I have tried the search function.

I had this issue on my 4Runner and finally drilled down far enough into the menu to figure out how to turn it off. I have been doing a deep dive into the Boom Navigation but haven't been able to find it. I was at the local dealer yesterday and asked their Boom tech and he couldn't find it. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

WInston

What year motorcycle do you have? I've got a '14 and I've never had prompts like that.

You should be able to turn off your Navigation Prompts, mind you the following instructions are for a Boom GTS
  1. Home > Navigation.
  2. Select: Menu.
  3. Select: Settings.
  4. Nav Prompts: ON/OFF-Audio guidance prompts.
Boom GT is
1. Home
2. Setup
3. Feedback Settings
4.Enable Nav. Prompts with a checkmark, or uncheck it to disable.

I’ve driven recently into three adjoining states with late model Glides with GTS radios. No notifications.

Thanks, not sure if those are applicable to mine, but I can still use the prompts when I drill down into it and they’ll get me close enough to figure it out.

See, I kinda wondered if there might some cross talk between the Boom and the map as I usually bluetooth music, but I use Google maps all the time and have never gotten that notification from it before. I figured out most of the Boom settings betwewn NE & WA but I’m still finding a lot I don’t know.

Yeah, weird right? As mentioned to popo, Google maps is my normal nav aid, and it hasn’t ever made that announcement before. First I’ve had a vehicle do that was when my 4Runner made the same announcement. I didn’t the have the Google maps app active very often on the trip, and when it was active it wasn’t always connected. I also have never used the bikes nav for directions as it’s a PIA for me. In the 4Runner the nav system was never active, the announcement was just another rando default function of the vehicle.

Today was weird because after crossing seven state borders last week and not hearing it, it suddenly popped off as I was rolling into OR. But like I said to popo, there is a lot still left for me to learn.

Following. I’d like to activate this function but I’ve never seen the setting.

Default owners manual

The owners manual has an amazing amount of usually accurate information in it, especially for things like this.

I get the google maps "Welcome to New York" or whatever state, every time I cross a state line, never once on the Boom system. Maybe your google maps was active & connected more than you realized?

Sounds to me like your Google Maps app is giving you the state border prompt, not the Harley Davidson Boom Audio Navigation system.
I don't think you can disable State Border prompts on Google Maps
