Just purchased my first Harley Davidson, 2011 street glide.
I'm a fairly tall guy with bad knees and the shifter is slightly uncomfortable to use. Are there any mods or aftermarket items I can buy and install to make them more like forward controls?
Any help is appreciated.
Also any pointers or tips on that particular model would be appreciated as well.
I got a 2010 Street Glide and I’m 6’3” Originally I felt cramped on it so I started modifying. Got a LePera outcast daddy long legs version which moved me back, got the HD floorboard extenders that moved them forward, also got the extenders that moved them outwards from forum sponsor that I don’t remember their name at the moment, got a extended brake pedal from SoftBrake and they sell shifters too but I went with a Drag Specialties extended shifter and removed the heal shifter. Now I feel very comfortable and dare I say stretched out at times.
Tallboy cycles has floorboard relocation mounts that move your floorboards down and forward. These really made all the difference in my comfort. I'm 6.2. With boards and an extended reach seat you should have luck getting comfy.
When I had left knee surgery, I temporarily installed a suicide shifter. It took a few miles to get used to, but was great to get back in the saddle long before my doctor recommended it.
