I have a 2006 Road King w/3600 miles. After the engine and oil is hot, it has a slight knock at idle. The people at HD say this is normal.Does anyone else have this noise andis it "normal"?
Will it change with the clutch pulled in. Will it change if you raise the RPM`s some. Where does the noise Emmit from/what area.
If it changes with RPM is it a first order, second order or third order noise/knock. First order would be main bearing knock, second order would be a rod knock and third order would bevalve train noise.
What`s the oil level and condition of all three holes. Did anyone perform the 1K service and did they use synthetic oils.
Did the noise just start or has it always been there. What mods have been done.
I have the same thing and I am working on it right now, it sounds like something in the valve train I have replaced the lifters and push rods with no success now I am going to change the rocker assy. I have pin-pointed the knock and it sees to be coming from the exhaust valve on the rear cylinder. No noise when cold but knocks when hot, will keep you posted.
