Hello All,
Curious if anyone is running adjustable Helibars. I am looking to install 14 inch bars and want my wrist as straight as possible. I like the adjustment option with the Helibars, but I have never seen them on a bike. Thanks in advance.
I have them on my 17 ultra limited, it takes several rides to get them adjusted to your liking. I bought my first set from helibars at Daytona bike week for my Victory cross country back in 2013. The guy told me to adjust them in very small increments and not a bunch at one time. I kept the two different Allen wrenches in my saddle bag and on long lunch rides I'd adjust a little bit at a stop , usually after a hundred miles or so.
When we traded in the Victory for the ultra limited that was the first thing I bought along with a Mustang seat with a backrest. If you go to Helibars site there is a video step by step on how to install them without having to lengthen any wires, with that said all your wires will be on the outside of the bars and not going through them. To me it was no big deal as the comfort outweighed the looks. Most of mine are zip ties to the underside of the bars and besides that I do not see them while riding. With three points of adjustment you can get them prefect to your liking. They adjust at the triple tree like normal bars and
2 adjustments at the wrist , one is in and out and the other is sort of us and down on a angle for your wrist.
Check there rally schedule and call them , they used to do free installs with purchase at the shows. My friend had a set installed in just a few hours, we walked around and came back and it was done. They had him sit on the bike for a quick adjustment and off we went. I did both installs myself and it really wasn't to bad, for me with neck, shoulder and back issues these bars are the only way to go. All day comfort.
I have on 2016 FLHXS. Lots of adjustment, and more pull back compared to other bars I've researched. Unfortunately I'm short (5'4) with short arms and I still get shoulder pain.
I've been looking for different bars but I haven't found one with more pullback than Helibars. My next option is seat modification that will push me 1 inch forward.
If you don't need as much pullback as I do, Helibars are a good choice with tons of adjustments.
Thanks. My big concern is wrist angle. I want my wrist as straight as possible.
I had 14" LA Choppers prime apes on a 2022 FLHXST and the wrist angle was pretty straight. I have 12" HD mini apes on my 2021 FLH Revival that are not as straight. Liked the LaChoppers better.
I had considered Helibars years ago but could not get past the look, just me. If you favor function over form then Helibars make sense.

I'm 5'2" and super reduced reach seat scoots me forward. HD makes a touring reduced reach seat that will probably do the job for you. This along with 12-14" apes and no pain. With the stock bars on the FLHXS I suffered with pain between the shoulder blades, tried KW 2 plus 2 and still had the pain.Swapping bars gets expensive! It wasn't until I bought the ST that came with 14" apes that I discovered how great apes really are.

Thank you. I've reach seat, which is perfect. But it takes away most of sitting real estate and puts you in one place. Can't move around on long rides. It's a good seat for short rides.
Also you get beat up more and not get that rear suspension benefit, as you are close to the gas tank.
I have a set of Heli bars I used for about 1000 miles. I swapped them out for Kraus t bars mainly for looks. I would sell them for $350 if interested. Arden

In case you're interested, another option is KST Kustom bars for Road King & Road Glide. If you go with any of the various "Vanguard Collection" bars, they are 3 piece bars. The uprights rotate and can be adjusted for wrist angle adjustment, and the bars rolled forward or backward to get them positioned where you prefer. I got a set of 12" Pioneer bars for my RGL as I prefer a fairly "flat" wrist angle. Love them!
