I picked up this 2012 Limited with 13k mi this past spring. In my opinion the 12/13 Touring bikes are the best bang for the buck. ALMOST all the bugs were worked out and prices are bottoming out.

Hope you're right about those being the best years!Only thing I noticed I don't care for is that the trunk is quite a bit farther ahead and the seat is shorter.so this one is more cramped than the 01 and I'm only 5'10"The trunk is already at the back adjustment but I'm gonna look into moving it back moba.95 % of my riding is 2 up.

Kuryakyn has an adjustable TP relocator, but it's very pricey. DK Customs has one here that's a bit more reasonable.
As far as the 2012/2013 bikes being reliable, I have a '13 King that's been a great bike. And those front knuckle wheels get to be a pain airing it up. Especially on the long trips as most of those air chucks are just too big. I got rid of the wheels on my King but I used one of these.

The 01 came with Kury adjustable pass pegs that I switched to the 12.Had to do boards and all as the two were slightly different.Saying that though she can reach the boards on the 12 where she couldn't on the 01 at the top position of both.
