I know of a few guys that aren't touching their's until the warranty is up. I'm driving the crap out of mine and if it seizes or overheats, well, I'm not paying for it or taking any excuses.
Valid point of view for sure. That is some serious will power though.

Yeah, it's really touch. I did Stage IV and oil cooler on my Roadking when it was delivered and voided the factory warranty. My dealer said he'd stand behind the upgrades himself soo.... Waiting is tough, but this bike rides so different from any Harley I've owned that I'm forcing myself to wait. So many things "felt wrong" that I was too concerned to do much. The entire power-band/ gear ratio thing is taking some getting used to.

HD's are a sickness (a good one) but still a sickness - we say, I will buy it and leave it alone - well, maybe just a little - then 10K later - we say what happened - I did just this in 96, then again in 2000 and when I bought my bagger in 04, I was "much" better at leaving it alone - except when I changed it from a EG to a RG - lol...

Want to see the same thing except on 4 wheels - check this out - http://miniusa.com/#/MINIUSA.COM-m move your cuseror over "build" then click on Desgin/Build - I am looking at getting a Mini Cooper - This can be the same "sickness" as my Harley - build your own and it will be at the dealer in 6/8 weeks - built as YOU want it... If you have not test driven a Cooper "S" - not only a very smooth ride but FAST

So, we all start out saying we will 'try' and keep our bikes stock but it Never stays that way..

I do have one friend that both he and his wife have their bikes about 99% stock - they have gotten the best resale I have seen...

This is funny - Harley designs these things so you MUST spend $$$$ on engine mods to get them semi-normal.

Cool topic!
Several folks I ride with have bone stock bikes, including pipes. I like looking at their bikes just as much as the big-money bling-mobiles and the 1-off customs. As mentioned- stock says as much about one's preferences as does $10,000 worth of go-fast mods. IMO none better or worse than the other because one of the reasons to own a Harley is making it yours, which in turn says something about the guy in the saddle.

I run a Fuel Pak to richen the mix in lieu of the dealer download, and I run Rush slipons to get that sound only a Harley can deliver. Airbox is stock. If the stock pipes had a little more sound to them I would've left them on as well...

My engine & pipes are stock. Have spent a few bucks on other comforts like Hogtunes, seat, and back rest. Its loud enough for me and the heat is not an issue with me. Its still a Harley.

My 06 Ultra is stock as far as the motor, stock mufflers with the baffles knocked out. I've added cosmetic items. I plan to take my seat to Mean City Cycle this winter to have it adjusted to our needs. I plan to make some modifications to the motor to get a few more horses but nothing drastic. I've read the forum about modifications to the motor, some swear by this and others swear by that, tell the truth I just don't know what to do. My bike hasn't given me one problem since I purchased it, the heat is an issue on hot days but no more than I would expect at 95 to 99 degrees, if it's hotter than that I usually do not ride. The forum has been a good source of information for me.

I have a bone stock (yes, pipes too!) 1980 Ironhead Sportster (original owner) that still runs great....but not so with my Road King!
Two rarities there, the bike and the fact you didn't molest it all of these years.
Yep, back then, the wife threw out every aftermarket catalog that came in the mailand I had to promise that I wouldn't spend a dime on any upgrades or add ons, except for maintenance!
It was so tempting but I love the bike the way it is now that I kept it stock.

Only modidfications I have made to my Road Glide are windshield (Clearwater) and had the seat repacked. Did stage 1 and supertrapps on my Dyna and As far as I'm concerned, it was a waste of money.
