You saying your King didn't come with the shield? If it did and you want to get new plastic, get a recurve (has a little flip at the top of the shield) to push the air a couple more inches over your head. It makes a 16" feel like an 18". For cleaning, I just use water and a microfiber to get the bugs off. A product called Novus I use to get the fine scratches out, either the #1 or #2.

Once you get a shield, you'll notice air coming from under the tank area hitting you in the chest or head, depending. But then that might be a good thing in that Fl heat. There are products to eliminate that if you like still air around you, but you won't feel so "beat up" after a long ride with the shield.

One thing nice about the King is you can get a detachable batwing for it where the windshield normally goes. Most are easy on and off. I have one for my King and use it mostly for wind protection in cooler weather, as I ride year-round in NC.

Congrats on the new ride!

Congrats on new bike!

1. Buy a quality windshield (stay away from flee bay)
2. Absolutely make sure it fits your bike (many people lie about fitment, especially getting over the nacelle) Take a tape measure to the store if you can.
3. If you assemble it yourself, leave the plastic on to avoid scratching the windshield, don't ask how I know this
4. Assemble it on the bike not the bench
5. If you have the light-bar, the clutch cable tab, then the windshield assembly to deal with use a Dewalt squeeze clamp or the like to squeeze everything together against the fork stanchion or you'll be lucky to get 1 thread of the acorn nut on. Either that, or go back in time and grab Arnold when he was Mr. Olympia to help you
6. Pre-fit the windshield without all the other mess to see if it even fits...
7. You may have to grind off some chrome around the fitment holes, use tape and go slow or it can chip the chrome.
8. Be patient
9. See number 8
10. Sit back, crack a cold one and admire your work.

Good Luck!

Whisky

WOW!!
Wasn't expecting THAT much info!
Thank you so much guys!!
First......it did come with a windshield but there are some kind of blemished all over the lower portion almost like solvent was splashed on it.
Strangely, it's INSIDE the plastic not outside!
I dont want that nasty looking thing on my ride.
Also,, I already have the quick release hardware on bike so that'll save some bucks..
I put on the old one just to test height.
it's 19" top to bottom in center.
Too high!
It's right in my line of vision.
So I'm figuring on 16".....keep it around nose level.
Along with the bike I also decided to join the full-face crowd after 37 years of half helmets.
I'll bounce back and forth but I tell ya......that FF keeps me from feeling beat up after a few hours of riding!
Not to mention protecting my 69 year old pretty face!
All that being said.......I figured on just going to HD and getting one.
Theres a dealership within 20mins if me and the parts guy has always treated me right.
Even tells me when I should buy aftermarket.
Price for "16 is $365.
I haven't checked anyplace else.
Tx again guys......I really appreciate all the input!!
Stay safe!

$365 is high??
Guess I'll look around.
What can expect to pay?
And HD is so close in case there's a problem I can go right there w/o dealing with shipping BS.

Just checked out Freedom Shields.
About $100 difference from HD.
Looks like a solid product.

I recall paying about $250 for my clearview windshield , but that was without the vent , shipping included . That was about 5 years ago , so prices would probably have gone up since then .

I would check then vendors , I usually see free shipping within the US .

Yes , Freedom seems to be the popular on the HDF , from what I've read , good choice !

Totally get what your saying about convenience though ,
