Good evening good people, I’m in the process of installing a Soundstream radio and hertz amplifier I purchased from volunteer audio for my 2016 road glide. I watched all of their installation videos. I have a few questions for those familiar with this setup and wiring gurus.
1st question: So I purchased this radio with the thumb control option. It says in their video to connect the amplifier wiring harness to the factory harness and connect the other end to the sound stream radio. So what happens to the wiring harness with the control unit that came with the radio?
2nd question: After connecting all plugs back together and reassembling everything, I noticed two plugs that I don’t quite remember unplugging lol, one under my seat and one behind the fairing. I’ll attach photos to help solve this head scratcher.
All help is greatly appreciated.
If you can tell what color the wires to each connector are, you can look at the wiring diagram in your manual to determine where the connectors go. If you don’t have a manual, go here.
The first pic may be for the headlights. Is the tank off the bike? The second one looks like the fuel pump/fuel sender connector.
Figured it out last night. The fairing wire was for the light. Can’t believe I missed that. The wiring under the seat was for the security antenna. Hints why it wouldn’t start lol.

Question - How in the heck do you keep everything so clean under the seat and fairing, especially on a 2016 bike?
The bike actually has only 2000 miles on it. Bought it brand new to enjoy riding with my old man. Shortly after, he was diagnosed with cancer. After he passed away, I fell out of love with riding. Just last year I decided to regain that love. So there’s no magic trick to keeping it that clean lol. It’s practically still brand new.
