I just got a hold of a 2007 Harley Road King that was converted into a Street glide. First thing I noticed when I took it for a test drive is I couldn’t get the stereo to turn on. Everything else worked well on the bike so I bought it. I brought it home and was trying to check the stereo issue. All the fuses were good. It does have speakers on the saddle bags and on the leg fairings. When I opened the batwing fairing there’s a whole lot of wires. To be fair I don’t know anything about stereos but was wondering if anyone has had this issue on their street glide/road glide/ultra? Or if anyone has any suggestions of what I’m missing or what I’m doing wrong please let me know
Honestly, you've got a couple of potential nightmares ahead of you because it is an aftermarket radio and the RK didn't come with a wiring harness for one.
A- Bad wiring:
If they used a factory batwing-style wiring harness (Ultra, SG) it still means that someone mucked with it to accommodate the aftermarket wiring for the radio & speakers.
Is there an amp too, or just radio and speakers?
There could be a hard to find inline fuse under the seat, or even directly on the back of the radio.
Other than that, you're going to have to start chasing that power wire back to the battery.
B- You could have a non-functional radio:
I would disconnect it from the bike harness and see if it will power up using an alternate 12V source.
No need to chase hidden/blown fuses, bad connections, etc. if the radio itself doesn't work.

C- Both of the above could be true.
yeah it’s definitely an aftermarket radio. The closest thing I could find to what’s on there is the Pioneer AVH-3400NEX 7. Which is a touch screen with Apple car play and all that good stuff (not sure if it’s marine graded) I’m assuming probably a bad stereo. I will open up the fairing again and try to organize the rats nest in there to start pin pointing if there’s a hidden fuse or bad connection somewhere. I don’t recall seeing an amp but it could possibly have one given the fact it has a bunch of added speakers. I will follow up tomorrow with more pictures
Did you buy from a private party or a dealer of some kind?
What did the seller say when you asked why the radio didn't work....?
I bought it from a local auto dealership. They’re not an authorized Harley dealer/retailer. I asked if the stereo worked. He said it was working when he test drove it when he brought it to the lot. Said perhaps a fuse might have gone bad. It’s an aftermarket stereo. It’s a pioneer touch screen. Idk if it’s water resistant. I’m thinking it might have an anti theft lockout function, stereo went bad, or bad/unplugged connection somewhere. It’s not a big deal at the moment. I have a lot of buddies who work at Harley repair shops who can fix it for me. But I would like to try and do it my self save some bucks if possible 👍
You really need to open that fairing up and follow the wiring to the radio to figure it out. Just use a meter and chase the hot into it, and the ground for it. Somewhere, you're going to probably find an open point in the wiring. Hopefully it's a fuse, but it could be a connection that's dirty or loose too.
This is what I have so far. There’s a red and black wire that runs from that fairing to the battery. The red is connected to ground. The black is connected to neutral. Both wires are bare inside the fairing. I’m assuming these are for power. But I also don’t know where I would plug them in. I followed the stereos manual and everything is connected the way it’s asking to 🤔
