You're running a tough combo of taller shocks and wider slip-ons. When I had 13" Ohlins and S&S 4.5", similar to what you're running, the axle bolt was extremely close to the muffler. I loosened the hanger and the slip joint at the front, to try to give myself as much room as possible, then tightened everything back down. In the time I had that set-up, I did not have the axle hit the muffler, but it's was close.

If I release spring tension yes I gain a lot of clearance.

As far as loosening header at the heads to adjust this wouldn't that be prone to air leak since whole header would be at slight angle? I feel my issue is with shocks as everything else is stock beside mufflers. I have to say I am even considering going back to 12” shock but I hate the idea as 3” of travel is nice.
We're around 335 combined. I would go to 4" mufflers before I would go to 12" shocks or lowering blocks.

I have to admit that crossed my mind as well. Love my KW but I would rather sacrifice this than comfort of 3” shock travel

There are great name-brand 12" shocks with 3" or more of travel.

I know Ohlins has 3” travel with 12” shock but not aware of others. Also heard Legends is better than Ohlins but I guess this is subjective

You may have already read this ( old news ) but I remember reading threads on lowering blocks causing damage ( cracking / breaking ) the swing arm ... Of course this was on older scooters ...Just thought it might be worth mentioning

Yes shocks comfort is subjective. Besides Ohlins, Progressive, ProAction, and someone in the Sportster forum mentioned Bitubo have 12" shocks with around a 3" travel.

As far as Legends, I'm not sure they carry a 12" shock with 3" of travel, but someone can confirm.

On both my bikes I used a ball pein hammer to make clearance like factory mufflers have.
