been a while since i posted here but here goes. 2022 streetglide. 107 M8 . just finished stage 2 upgrade. S@S 475C cam kit. cobra 2into2 power port headers, 4.5 REINHART DBX MUFFLERS. VENTILATOR AIR CLEANER. had it dyno tuned got 110 HP with 115 Torque numbers.. very happy with my upgrade . BUT ITS VERY LOUD. on a short day ride or around town i love the sound but im looking for a way to quiet it down. what would be my best options? is there anyother slip ons in can get or maybe different baffles? also installed FUEL MOTO DYNAMIC EXHAUST TUNING INSERTS. these helped some but not enough for me. it was suggested to me that i can run my stock take off mufflers, need some input and opinions. also to add. when i idle it in my shop, the exhaust smells very rich and my milage went way down. i expected that it would . called the shop who dyno tuned it. its back there now. there going to check it out. what kind of milage drop should i expect?
Rineharts are LOUD. I put a set on my Evo but couldn't deal with the excess noise. I took them apart (easy) and wrapped the baffles. You can find the packing at most motorcycle shops. It quieted them down slightly. Enough where I don't **** off my neighbors. They are just less loud now.
If you can run stock mufflers, get a set of CVO mufflers from any M8 CVO model and install the Fullsac Performance 1.75" baffles in them. They have a good growl to them but at highway speeds in 6th gear they are quieter than the wind going past your ear. Granted you have more motor to fill them than I do, but they will probably be similar. Resist the urge to go bigger than the 1.75", which are the smallest but have more than enough flow for your horsepower.
You might also consider installing your factory header if you still have it. Having the pipes exit further behind you makes a huge difference. The shorter pipes that exit below you will certainly irritate your ears even at the same volume.
I kept my stock slip ons of of my 22 Road Glide special that ill likely never see the light of day again when I replaced mine with Reinharts if you need a set. I'm pretty sure I will never need them.
I have FM Jackpot RTX 4.5 slip ons with the 2-1-2 catless header. I love the sound until 4K RPM and then it is LOUD. I am going to wrap the baffles with wood stove door gasket rope. I also ordered ceramic mat. I will report back with the results.
I put a set of the FM Jackpot slip on's with stock de catted header with the DB reducers on the limited when doing stage 1, has a little more sound then the stock ones while still easy on the ears.
