I have a 2021 RGS. Today I removed the front fairing to install Apple CarPlay device. Once the fairing was out of the way I immediately noticed this bare wire sticking out of the black sheathing (loom). The wire is sitting directly over the CB radio connector. I looked at
the back of the connector and there’s no empty slot. I purchased the bike new and the fairing has never been removed. Has anyone seen this before or even heard of it? I have no clue what it’s for.
Appears to be stripped quite far for it to be a pinout wire. Should be able to trace it tho and see where it goes.
Based on the schematic above there are only 3 white wires.
1. Pin 2 on CB module for Mic Out (184b), changes to black to the bike.
2. Pin 4 on bike side connector (184a), CB module Audio + (changes to red on module)
3. Pin 7 on bike side connector (184a), Unused at CB module

@chopper_man I think the wire is BK/W, hard to see. The schematic shows it outside the connector.
A shield just takes an induced voltage or current to ground.
A shield wire wraps another wire. What you have there does not look like a shield wire at all to me. In fact, it doesn't look oem to me. It looks like an aftermarket wire. I'd follow it back to the other end.
I have on other bikes and vehicles run spare wires when convenient for future use. As the wire in the picture doesn't appear to have ever been attached to anything, that may be what this is.
I would, at the very least, install a dead end crimp on it, or a piece of heat shrink to protect it from making contact with anything until you figure it out..
Thanks man! Can’t really tell in my picture but the wire sheathing is actually clear. You can see the copper wires inside not so much in my pic.
I have plenty of time to trace it down before riding season is here in TN. Another cold weather project.
