Looking for a smoked tail light lense for a 2001 Road King. The ones I've found says "requires use of a led bulb". Should I be able to just plug in a LED 1157 without any issues?
Thanks guys.

Short answer is yes and use the red LED bulbs. If you also have some LED turns, then good chance you'll need a load equalizer as well.
wouldn't this make your bike less visible, also when braking.
I agree with Keithhu. I've had the smoke lenses on my King since new and I think they are as bright or brighter than the red lenses, depending on the bulbs. The initial H-D lights aren't as bright as the CD lights I have now.
You need the tail light to light up red. A regular 1157 is just going to make gray light in a smoked lens.
I'm guessing the instructions say to use a RED led bulb.
Have seen smoked lenses on many a Dodge truck and it was very difficult to tell when they were braking (when riding behind them). Happened more than once. YMMV

We don't know if they were using LED bulbs, do we?
