I’m sure it’s out there somewhere, but I got a lot questions about security and harley

2013 Electra ultra limited

1. the Harmon unit plays works fine except all I have in an orange light for the screen with no words, I have mastered the art of finding the display brightness with no screen. When I mash on the controls up for and down I can see the screen for a second before it goes blank. I’ve already pulled the unit out and bent the pins. No fix. Anyone know a resolve?
2. If I replace the unit with an jvc or something how does that affect the security? I only have one fob and am super paranoid about all that comes with losing it and not being able to start the bike. Do I lose the security? And ability to put in the pin? I’m not worried about the cb portion or radio the wife and I have Bluetooth helmets.

Radio has nothing to do with the security. That's part of the TSSM (turn signal security module). There used to be a company that repaired those older radios. If you don't use CB I'd replace it with a good water proof (not marine) unit.

 

i assume with a different unit I wouldn’t be able to see the digits I’m entering.

 

The instructions for disarming the security system, without the fob, are in the owners manual.

Security bypass digits? Those digits should come up in the odometer.

Ya ill send them it eventually, bike sat in a barn for 4 years I'm sure there is some corrosion.

I just ran out to the garage and tested it the bypass with my fob and found the code, so a big sigh of relief. I was under the impression to input the codes you need the Harmon screen. But makes total sense it’s thru the odometer. Now I just need my other fob to magically appear.
