Saddlebag latch Inserts
I've got the latch inserts on my Street Glide and like them. But now I am going with a blacked out look on the SG. Does anyone make a black insert for the latches?
You can get a cheapo heat gun at Harbor Freight. When they go on sale, they are about 10 bucks. You can do things with a heat gun, that you could never do with a hair dryer..........You can also easily ruin things also. Be careful around paint with a heat gun. It doesn't take much to blister the paint.

I may pick up a can of "Spray-on Window Tint" and give them a few coats for a "blacked-out" look.
Just a quick question. Has anybody ever installed the Drag Specialties (Hotop) Saddlebag latch inserts? It's to take the place of the red reflector, how does the red reflector come off? I tried the nut at the front and that didn't loosen anything..Any ideas or suggestions..Thanks in advance, Steve
Took me 10 minutes to complete both sides with the above suggestions and some creativity:
Used a Wagner heat gun with slot tip - applied heat for 10 seconds - then used a plastic knife to pop it out. Little more heat down the rest of it and she's outta there.
It does leave allot of grey glue/stickem $hit. Hard to get off with even a new razor blade.
Next best thing - GOOF OFF - one or two soaked Qtip / finger rag swipes and she's a virgin surface ready for the Drag inserts - no trace of former adhesive - nice and easy - no negative effect on the chrome - but I washed it off immediately just in case.
Beauty. Thanks again guys.
