That Glide looks gangster as hell!!! I just ordered 16's for mine was hesitant for the same reasons others are but can't stand riding around with my arms lower than my nuts!!!
Yes they do look gangsta as **** but I cant figure if I like the look of it being so high over the fairing. 16' apes are popular on everything here in the bay area. My cousin put 16' apes on his RG painted Black Cherry to match his bike. I havent seen it yet but when I do I'll post pictures.
Bigjess I too was in your shoes a few weeks ago. I thought I'd get the 13's but if you are gonna do it you gotta do it all the way. I too am in the bay. I'm tired of bein jealous when I see some nice apes next to me. They look so good. Not to mention 9 out of 10 guys I've talked to that went with apes say its easier to ride. falls into turns better everything. I went with black bars and I will keep all the black controls. ordered black levers and already got the street glide mirrors hopefully with the black bars it will look good.
On the advice of some other road gliders, I got a take off set of WideGlide stock handlebars from afriend and put them on my roadglide....HUGE improvement in comfort. While they may not qualify as true ape hangers, they are several inches higher than the stock roadglide bars, and the hand position is very natural for me.
SeaHag It appears from the pics you posted that you have the clearview windshield, any problem with the mini apes hitting the windshield, and where you able to use all the stock cables and wiring on the mini ape install? Thanks Doc

In a full lock turn, my mirror stems will contact the edge of the windshield, which I think could be remedied by adjusting the hand controls, but it is so rare that I turn the bars that far, I'd rather be comforable with the position of all the switches etc. I do not believe the bars would contact the windshield though.
As far as the wiring goes, they are all stock. When you remove the cowell around the speedo, you will need to pull some more cable up, to give enough slack for the job...and the brake line's metal tubing has to be slightly tweeked to clearance the different shaped bars.
