Put a hidden antenna in so I could pull the tour pack for shorter rides and around town, trying to look like a Street Glide... Can't beat the tour pack for a long ride, but definitely don't need it a majority of the time. Now I have a large empty frame with 5 holes in it. Can always do some short bolts with acorn nuts to "accessorize", plus I don't want water getting into the bars through the holes and just sitting there. Does anyone know of a rack that specifically fits that frame the tour pack sits on? The dealer doesn't have one, couldn't find one in the J&P catalogue. I know a lot of other people pull them, any ideas?
Harley did sell some years ago, a bolt on rack with a bar you could put a passenger backrest pad on that bolted to the rack left when tour pack was removed. This was before detachable stuff was made. I see them on ebay from time to time, it has a 4 or 5 chrome bar rack with a upright with a oval bar on front that the passenger pad bolted to. The tour pack mount has changed some on the newer models but you might be able to adapt one of these if you can find one. The easy way is to get the detachable rack mount and clean it up completely when not using the tour pack, plus then its a 1 minute job to put it on or remove it.
That Bracket comes off also, it is another 4 bolts, but it gives a much cleaner look.
I took off the tour pack from my Ultra about 1 month ago and dont want to go back.
I did buy the quick deatchable brackets for my tour pack, but have not installed it yet.
Thanks for the replies, I like the idea gunrunner mentioned, will pursue that. Thought about the detachable setup, but have to pick and choose because my "war fund" is dryng up! Never done the Ebay thing, maybe nows a good time to check it out.
You hurt me man! Yeah. it does look lonely, but that flat rack Gunrunner mentioned would look a lot better. It would also help if I ever had to go out and get a paper route to pay for all the goodies!
