Suggestion. When you install new tires, buy and install 90 degree valve stems from Kurvy Girl. That solutions any problems putting air in your tires. Money well spent.
Yes indeed! Did this with the new tires in May. So much easier. Got a multi fitting air chuck with gauge from Amazon however with the straight extension on it (works best with the angle valve stems) it only reads accurate on the stem, pull it away and the gauge reading drops in half.
Whatever stems Kurvy Girl sells are dandy, fit correctly and dont interfere with the brake calipers.
Some great suggestions folks. Thanks so much. I was at the dealer today for something else so I ordered the HD valve stem extension while I was there. Of course they didn't have one in stock like most things these days. I went for plugs and wires a couple days ago and they had to order those as well. Seems like they have to order just about everything and have very little in stock.
For fathers day this year, my son got me a compact tire inflator with a flexible hose. It's about the side of a walkie talkie, and the end of the hose screws onto the tire valve. You set it to what ever pressure you want, and it does the rest. It's also rechargeable. Not the fastest inflater out there, but it's relatively small and you don't need to provide power to it to make it work. It was cheaper than just the hose valve and gauge setup from Harley. I think it was $77.,,
i had one of those. i found that once you set your tire pressure, it'll run until it hits a point (overheat maybe?) and then stop. i have to do it again, and it'll go a little further and then stop. rinse and repeat. last week i had to air up a rear tire from 14 lbs to 42 psi. never got there. got as high as 37 and then it just wouldn't run long enough to increase psi.
i had some chrome cash so i bought the hd portable air pump. lets hope it works better. threw the other in the trash. was kinda bummed about losing the external usb port though.
