I would like to get some other people's feelings / comments about the new Street Glide as well as other Touring bikes.
I have had one for 1 week and put on 500 miles so far. I had an '07 SG so in comparison my thoughts are:
1. Much less vibration with new motor mount . Runs much smoother.
2. Like the new Brembo brakes compared to the old ones. No squeaks and seem to react quicker.
3. Don't care for the feel of the seat now that it was changed to accommodate the bigger tank. I have had the "Tall Boys" and the new one is just not as comfortable.
4. Disappointed that the SERT is not released yet so you can't put on new pipes.
5. Still runs hot, the Company needs to address this IMHO.
The motor-mount has not changed.
The location of the drive-train adjustment link was moved to the front head to accommodate the bigger tank.
The heat issue is from a 14.1 to 15.1 AFR. The heat will remain until that can be changed.(by you)The MoCo has been force by the EPA to clean up emissions. Pollution control just like the auto makers.
You should have researched theSERT before you bought it. The dealers told everyone they can`t modify them yet.?????[8D]
Yes the Brembo`s work very well and have great stopping power with less inputeffort.
As far as the seat is concerned, maybe you shouldtry an 07 seat to see how it fits/looks/feels.
After you get the SERT, Mufflers and an A/C you should loose some heat. Your in-line behind mefor 08 tuning toys...
there is one item that I'm not at all impressed with and that deals with what's inside the engine! My favorite wrench pointed me to the fact, that Harley has decided to do away with the roller bearings in the cam support plate. From what I understand from another individual American iron magazine and author Donnie Peterson may have a story dealing with this particular issue. I know the automobile mobile industry uses no bearing supports whatsoever for cams in many of their engines, but in their case and to their credit, they have far superior lubrication systems. To make this work correctly you have to have unbelievable accurate machining, and sufficient oil pressure to create a laminar oil flow. Personally, I see problems with this idea and Harleys air cooled engine.
jraz,
I to have an 07 sg and been wanting to get an 08 for abs brakes. Did you trade yours or sell outright.Just wondering what kind of hit you took to get an idea of what I can look forward to.
Thanks
I was told that there is a download that the stealer can do that will allow you to change the pipes and air cleaner until the SERT is released the end of October
