HD likes to scare people into paying there (People) $70+ per hour to do something - I love to tinker and MY time is Cheap but others see time in a different light and there are people who do a job and when done still have a can full of (important looking ****) so you have to ask your self does (some assembly required scare ya?? LOL)
and understand going with full detachables cost $$$$ just for the parts
And just a thought for when you do put the trunk back and don't want it to walk, H-D makes a locking detachable (the black things that allow the slide into of the hardware then they roll about and latch) latches with keys. I ordered the set of (2) partnumber: 46106-00 HD AHD LOCK DETACHABLES SET for $59.95. Well worth it since the price of the Ultra travel trunk is over $600 thats alone not including speakers and pods, by H-D prices that will be closer to over a grand total.
I had the dealer put on the detach kit and also docking hardware for a detachable (rear) backrest when the trunk is off. Only problem I have had is that it's asy to take of but difficult to re-install. The side rails on the trunk arms need to be pushed apart when re-dockin. I hate having to try and get the grommet back in the hole for the antenna and poer line every time and having to tie rap the cable each time I connect the antenna to the other( alternate ) antenna bracket. Any suggestions wouls be apprciated.
