Any Trike riders on the forum, if so I'd like to hear the pros & cons on A trike. Been wondering if I would enjoy one. Am getting old an lazy I guess in my older days.
not big on the "training wheels" but i'm interested in this thread as wifey wants to convert her bob to trike status....everything ive seen so far puts the cheapest conversion around 7k
A very good friend of mine has been riding for 40+ years and recently had his bike "triked out " with a Champion kit and added a trailer for it as well . He's 68 and has leg problems so its tough for him to hold up the big bike loaded and his wife included . He feels alot more confident and at ease now, not to mention he's never home, always on the road ....LOL ! He said he wishes he had done it long ago, as he has lost alot of " road time " trying to decide ....If you can afford the cost , love to ride , and feel uneasy on 2 wheels , its a great alternative ...Go for it .........[sm=smiley20.gif]
Every trike rider I've spoken with loves them - and many regret not triking out their bikes sooner. My wife will be riding her own trike within the next 18 months.
My father is in the process of having his 2002 FLHTCI converted to a trike using the kit from Motortrike. He's over 60 now and has knee problems from working in a steel plant all of his life. Since he loves his Harley but was struggling with his knee problem, a trike was a good solution for him, not to mention that he loves the style. We're supposed to be picking the trike up in about 2 weeks to take to a rally. He researched trikes for a while before deciding on which one to go with for a conversion. The kit he chose looks incredible. I can't wait to see it.
I love my trike but there are some down sides. Just off the top of my head, some are: Fuel mileage goes down, Dyno tuning is almost impossible to find, Harley dealers are quick to disqualify you because it is a 'trike' problem. I have a Lehman Renegade conversion on my 07 FLHTCU Ultra Classic. The Lehman people are unbeatable. They have assisted me, stepped up when it was needed, and they have a vast knowledge of there products. The only thing I wish I could do is solve the 'heat' problem on the UC. I should get some help with that at my next service I am going to go with sythetic oil and get it DYNOed.
