The girls took the very beginner class. t was a 2 day class and, upon passing, they got certificates to take to the DMV to get their license. I didn't go with them. I got my license 35 years ago. I took a Ride Like a Pro class a couple years ago to learn the low speed stuff. I'm a lot better at it than I used to be, but not as good as I'd like to be. I still practice it a couple times a month.

I'm just signed up for the intermediate course at my local Harley-Davidson dealership.
Watched some of the videos of the instructors slow speed maneuvering.
Also some videos of them and their students learning how to do this - dumping the bikes over and over again.
That's going to happen when you're learning.
But I'm m bringing my own bike to this - I'm not interested in doing that. I don't know how I'm going to learn when I'm not open to dumping my bike.
Apprehensive about this.
I'll show up and try.

@Robertbc3141 Look up Motorcycle Drop Guards. If you drop your bike doing slow speed practice, they help prevent damage to your bike.

Wow those are pretty pricey for six little pieces of plastic.
$250.
I was thinking more of big foam guards all around.
Maybe they will have something at the class.

Split a pool noodle lengthwise and wrap with duct tape.

I don't know if you're trying to be funny but that's what I was thinking of maybe five of them on each side

Pool noodles will do nothing. Just shred and be gone at the first contact of the ground. Motorcycle Drop Guards are not plastic, they are stainless steel. They are thick enough that the bottom edge of the lowers on my UL will no longer contact the ground. They come in polished or black and are worth every penny they charge for them. Every once in a while they have a discount code through Ride Like a Pro. The set also comes with a primary shield. On the M8s, if you drop it on the left side, the bottom of the primary will touch the ground and it's a pricey fix.

For riding school protection you don't need anything expensive or elaborate other than pipe foam (home depot pipe freeze protection foam) and duct tape because you just need TIPPING PROTECTION. After al,l most slow speed manuvers in class are done at almost a walking speed with little to no "sliding" just laying it down. IF you have saddle bags you could take those off and leave them at home if you're concerned....but the engine guards will be just fine and a little scratch protection is all they need.....foam and duct tape,
