I hear what I thought was the air cleaner vented bolts in the intake slightly spitting. The bike has to be all the warmed up, actually hot to do this. I removed the air filter and its not the umbrella valves.
Took it to the dealer and they said its normal for M8 motors. I do not think they are hearing what I am hearing. Kind of a hiss, hiss intermittently. What you guys think?
Sorry, but it sounds normal to me.... admittedly, I have 67 year old ears.
When you run an open air cleaner like you have, you will hear more engine noises than if the bike has one of the OEM plastic boxes enclosing the entire filter.
Hopefully someone else will hear what you are referring to and give a better answer...
The umbrella valves (poppet valve) is a one way out. So when motor is running, there open.
And after it sits a while, the small amount of vapor that is oil collects on walls of the passages ways will run down and spit into air box. All normal if you have vents in air box.
If you can hear a hissing sound over that exhaust, that's amazing. If you really do, make sure you don't have any any lines loose off throttle body if you have a charcoal canister. Could check for intake leaks. (See YouTube)
Again, I don't hear anything but I also don't trust dealership especially if there not getting paid for their work.
See 4. Hose or cap there.

I can't hear it on that video. Hissing ya think it might be oil mixture dripping on pipes maybe, never could hear that though. Header pipes leaking or exhaust? Sometimes baffles in mufflers can give ya a little pht pht noise.
