Default direct link tuner

Has anyone heard of direct link? I think it is a fuel managment device. A local shop owner told me not to use pc111 on an 07 bike. He said your going backward in technology. Go with the direct link or with sert.

Did some more research, googled direct link fuel management. Came up with direct link software by TechnoResearh, Johnson Engine Technology Inc. ( J.E.T.) They are remapping harleys stock ecu. Once your bike is configured by J.E.T. the map is installed onto a direct link re-flash key for future work. Sounds interesting, is anyone else using it? I think this is the route I am going to go. They are claiming great gains.

Never heard of it till now... But from what I read (see below) it writes to the flash memory of the factory ECM...

http://www.technoresearch.com/Produc...irect-Link.htm

Unless you're going to get into some major engine mod changes - ya might want to consider V&H FuelPak... Very Simple to install & set-up (30 min install & set-up) and doesn't make any direct changes to the ECM itself... I have had very good results with the FuelPak....

Anyone have any more info on the directlink download. Where I'm takeing my bike they also install the sert. The directlink is a little cheaper I think, $279. The mechanic here likes the directlink.

Keep us posted on what you choose. Do you know, does this use a wide band 02 sensor? Would like to hear more input on this!!

Question. Can the ECM be flashed back if one isn't happy?

Will this accept mods in the future without having to be reprogramed?

This system uses the o2 sensors on your bike, whichare narrow band, correct? The ecm can be flashed back. The initial setup is 3 to 4 hrs,I dont know if this is dyno time or not. So I think if you make changes to your bike you do have to come back in. The mechanic said for an hour or less the next time. I'm still learning about this set up. Just talking to a mechanic on the phone trying to write down as much info as I can. Hope to have work done on the bike this weekend.

The Direct link is very similar to the SERT, same tables and abilities. The tables areat different TP openings like 4% instead of 5% ect, I am assuming to avoid issues with HD. The Direct Link requires a specific cable assy to tune with thats quite costly, about $700, but if your doing it right on a dyno with a reputable tuner the results are the same as the SERT. Cool thing is you can save the map thats in the ecm, so you can save your base map from the factory. Our shop has done about 75 of these so far this year, more so when the SERT goes on back order. So far nothing yet for 08 Dressers but they work on all the Delphi bikes through 07, you can also do the Marelli's and Buells too with the proper cables. It is just as good as a SERT given the end results, the down is it can only be tuned by a tuner with the cables or if you shell out another 700 for them, where as the SERT can be done by just about anyone. The Tuner key is about 200 less than the SERT so it should be less overall for the full tune on a dyno.

Does the bike require dyno time after the download? Sounds like you are pretty familiar with both setups. Do you have a personal preference, and why?

I'm going for direct link too. It's much cheaper than the SERT but with the same results. I have an interesting link for you www.vosselman.nl (site is available in english). You can select a standard map from your tuner or you can do a specific dyno adjustment (this will take approx. 4 hours).

Just got a quote from cycle shop doing my install. Big sucker, stage 1 chrome $147.00, delphi key $279.00, dyno tuneing $225.00 for 3 hrs. They are also going to install my rinehart true duals and stage 1 kit $105.00. They told me that rineharts are not the greatest pipes to tune, but they are ok. Said there are a couple spots that will not tune, can show me on the dyno. Not for sure if that was his exact words, but something like that. Also asked about decel pop, said kinda normal, but can be taken out. May have to richen up, may lose a little fuel milage. Does all this sound right, and what about the price? Still wondering if this is the way to go. Dont know about other fuel managment systems and piggy backing. Any comments would be greatly appreciated.
