I'm pretty sure I took this picture and it was probably in the 80s but don't remember when. Question is when did Harley use a fairing like this. And what was the model called?
It is a Wind Jammer fairing. The peaked in the 70s before Electraglides and Goldwings came stock. Died out in the 1980s.
Are you sure it's a "Wind Jammer"....
I know Craig Vetter supplied Harley with some "Vetter" fairings that came OEM on certain models during the Shovel head era.... I believe they were called "FLH Liberator Fairing by Vetter".
But my old memory can't bring up any other the details....
NOTE: The internet is wonderful, I found some info to back my failing memory...
Vetter may have designed and manufactured those fairings - I don't know - but its the standard fairing that came on the Tourgilde model back in the day. Shovelhead engine.
Here`s the 1980 FLT Tourglide
Fairly ugly
Rubber mounted shovel
5 Speed
Enclosed rear chain
Note the factory True Duals
I happened upon a old school biker at a HD dealer 25 years ago. He called bikes with that fairing Toads. Why I never figured out but I always thought that it was funny.
Vetter fairing from before the Tour Glide/Road Glide version from HD. Shown on a four speed Shovel. One of the bikes displayed at Graceland has it, cool enough for Elvis........
