Default Coolant System ECM code

2015 CVO Street Glide Wet Head. 4600 miles. Just finished installing head/cams/throttle body upgrade. Ran through heat cycles with no issues. Went to take her out for break-in miles and got a P1019 (ECT) code being thrown along with the Temp light. Did the 1/2 throttle power on and the fans work, but can't feel the pump running. This also implies that the fuse and relay are fine, assuming that the relay triggers the fans and pump at the same time.

Verified coolant levels, but does not appear to be moving coolant. When I did the coolant refill and bleed procedure after the refill, everything was hunky f*@king dory and the pump ran and I was able to bleed and fill coolant according to the procedure in the manual. The bike sat for 3 weeks between heat cycling and taking her out today for break-in miles.

Looking for some insight as to whether or not the pump can be bench tested and the ECT sensor, prior to my purchasing a replacement. I had also read that this original pump is now obsolete and have to go with the upgraded M8(?) pump if replacement is needed. Is that correct?

Thanks in advance my fellow forum denizens!

First thing I would do is verify you have the upgraded pump. The new one has no thermostat and runs all the time.
(someone correct me if I'm wrong)

Just pull the black cover off. You can tell because it won't have the "blob" that was the thermostat.
The cover then snaps back on to two grommets at the bottom.
In this photo, the newer one is at the bottom. And it's shiny too.

It is the original pump...not the M8 uograde. Thought I referenced that in my original post.

Did you put a tune in it? Some devices will allow you to install a non water cooled map into a water cooled bike.

The tune installed is specific to the Twin Cooled model, not an air cooled model. As I noted, it was fine during the post install coolant fill and purge. My guess is it failed sometime during one of the heat cycles. I ran 4 heat cycles and never let head temps get over 250, which is why it didn't throw a code.

The pump is likely gone and I know of no way to bench test it. If the engine is hot enough to trigger the fans, and they are blowing cool/warm air and not hot, then the pump is not circulating coolant. I never went by feel to see if the pump was operational when it was working so I had no way to definitively say the pump was or was not functional when the time came. I just went with the blown air temp test. I figured if the new style pump fixed my problem then great, but if not I knew someday it was likely going to need replacing anyway, so it was worth swapping it out on spec.

Thanks for the input. You confirm what I had been reading, was just hoping someone may have found a way to bench test the pump.

I would test for voltage at the pump while i test mode. I put the updated pump on mine a couple of years ago.

Does anyone know what the resistance is supposed to be across the temp sensor for the coolant system?
