First thing I would do is verify you have the upgraded pump. The new one has no thermostat and runs all the time.
(someone correct me if I'm wrong)
Just pull the black cover off. You can tell because it won't have the "blob" that was the thermostat. The cover then snaps back on to two grommets at the bottom. In this photo, the newer one is at the bottom. And it's shiny too.
I thought I saw where the new one has an internal thermostat built into it.
It is the OEM black long one, original to the bike. I' just finished removing it and am going to bench test it with 12v to see if it operates.
---UPDATE--
Pump off the bike, put 12v to it, nothing. Took apart the pump, seemed as though the impeller was sticking. Separated the impeller, cleaned it well, put pump back together, applied 12v and that biotch spun right up.
Installing the pump now and will run diags and go through the fill/bleed procedure. Keeping my fingers crossed!
I think I would try a long bolt for the strap the holds the pump on. If you could back it out a couple turns you could mount easier. That bold it just a hair to short. I would consider drilling a hole in the plastic cover, to run a tywrap through.
Part of the problem is they shoved in a M8 pump, so the hoses connect weird.
I did mine this fall, it failed the same way. The fans worked but pump didnt do anything. A new pump fixed it right up.
Much appreciated. I was able to bench test the pump and ECT. ECT is fine, pump...not so much. The magnetic portion of the removable impeller had broken off in a couple places.
$522 + tax for replacement. 1 week to get it in. Found several standalone replacement pumps for much cheaper, but they don't come with the bracket.

i figured i could have rigged up something to work with the information available here, but, even though i didnt want to give hd a dime, i felt better replacing the hoses and clamps and all too. Its all fresh and ready to go and i guess i have some confidence in it. I feel good about it anyway.

The hoses and clamps are the easy part for me, have that stuff in my misc parts cabinets. It the bracket and retaining clamps for the motor that's the showstopper for me.
