Yo Gang, I'm on my 4th Touring bike. 1st 2012 SG, 2nd 2018 SG, 3rd 2022 RGS and now 2021 SG. All 4 bikes had 12" handlebars. These last 2 bikes my left hip is screaming after long rides. My question is, can handlebars rolled to far forward hurt just my left hip? TIA just wanted to add, been doing stretches, squats and side lunges all winter in hopes of no pain. Ain't helping!

Anything is possible.
Is it muscle or joint pain?
More hip muscle exercises might help.
I drink a lot of gatorade while riding, helps with muscle cramps.

after some research, I think it's impinged.....pain when lying on the floor and pulling my left knee into my chest.
Are your knees above your hips when sitting on the bike? If yes, that is most likely causing the hip pain. I have pain in both hips when riding. My Tall Boy seat is at an upholsterer now getting raised an inch. I already have a floorboard lowering kit installed, but it didn't resolve the issue.
I am thinking I'll have to go down the handlebar and windshield rat hole after I get the seat back.

Reason: typo
For me the hip pain was solved by lowering the floorboards. Handlebars are a major factor in comfort level but the biggest difference came from lowering the boards. Tallboy cycles makes a relocation kit that made all the difference in the world... https://www.tallboyscycles.com/
I have arthritis in both hips and live in pain but riding the motorcycles doesn't make it worse like the car does. My theory is the angle of my thighs takes pressure off my hips along with the width of the seat that eliminates any pressure points. I have stock bars in their stock positions but I can imagine if I rolled them forward I'd have to lean to reach the bars and that's going to make that hip /leg angle get tighter and that's what hurts the most. The other post talks about lowering the boards...also increases that angle and I bet that helps alot too.

Knees and hips are even. I sometimes use an Ultra seat, no difference. Also tried 13" rear shocks, no help either......
after you try di bar angles: Have you seat redone with memory foam.Eat non inflammatory foods, cut out sugar, cut down alcohol. lose a few pounds if ya need to and walk at least a mile everyday . I did all that plus acupuncture. The final part for me was a new mattress. Still have some discomfort, but no pain. Good luck.
