I put FLHX cast wheels with black on mine, I do like the look of spokes best but the wide whitewalls were just too much geezerfor me especially with the geezer smokey gold paint on this bike, would have been fine with a dark color. Got a deal on tires, wheels, rotors with 20 or so mile so the swap was easy. Now with two sets of tires and wheels if and when I feel like blending in with the crowd I can put the stock front fender back on with the spokes and wide white walls in a couple of hours. Main reason for swap was I mostly ride far from home and town and wanted to be rid of the tube in case I ever pick up a nail or ???? can easily plug a tubless tire air it up and go,tire repairkit takes up very little room.
After my spokes loosened up twice, once at 31k miles and once at 62k miles, with several breaking while on the road causing me to get trailered 350 miles home, I swapped to a 1200 Custom rear wheel.
I really do like the looks of your wheels and they look good with the whitewall. Was wondering if you have noticed any problems with a cross wind with those solid wheels?
Have never noticed any cross wind problems. Just got back from a 4800 mile trip to Sturgis.
I am a huge fan of old style polished aluminum wheels. (from my old car drag racing days) Open the large bike picture linked below for a better look. Many don't like polished wheels but they are something nostalgic for me on my RK CLassic.
So I went with Harley parts: front wheel 43750-03 back wheel 43760-03
That looks real good, i might just consider that setup. What bike do they come stock on?
Not sure if they did. Just went into the Harley catalog and ordered them.
I'm the odd man out, I like the lace but didn't like the WW so switched to BW, there is no other white on the bike so just didn't like the white on the dark bike.
I love the look of my laced wheels with whitewalls. However, if / when they need replacing I'll go with a mag of some sort so I'm not stuck out in the middle of nowhere with a hard to repair flat.
How many of you have either swapped out your rearlaced wheel or both wheelsfor a non-lace? For those who have, what wheel did you decide to use?
Pics would be great if you have any.
I like the stock spoked wheels. Looks like my 1957!
Swapping out my wire wheels for some type of mag wheel this winter. On long trips I like the option of being able to plug a flat and drive to the next service station rather than having to have a tow truck take the bike to a shop.
