Default Engine Bolts

This is my first Harley 2003 Ultra, its appears that most of the bolts on the engine seem to have corrision on them. Anything I can do to clean them up short of replaceing them all? Any cleaning products?

If you are talking about the allen bolts on all the covers, you can clean them with a Q-tip and simichrome polish and then get some of those chrome plug caps from HD or Hot toppers.

Get a Hot Topper kit and you can cover them which will clean up the look and keeps moisture out.

Of course, customers wouldn't need Hot Toppers if the bolt heads were made of a miracle metal that would resist corrosion - someday, a metal like that will be discovered. Until then, we can support the Hot Topper industry. Btw, they fall of regularly, cause corrosion between the spring metal inside the topper and the bolt metal making it sometimes very difficult to remove, and, will actually trap moisture after a bike wash making corrosion even worse. I'm not very impressed with their track record.

Harley sells Chrome hardware kits. You can find the #'s in your wish book then order through Chicago HD or Zannoti's.

The bottom line is: Not everyone cares about those kinds of things,so it looks to me like Harley will never be able to please all of us.My Harleys have always pleased me right out of the Gate.you have a lot of choices when it comes to prettying up the hardware.Good Luck.

Take them out, chrome them, polish, or just re-plate them. If you would have sprayed down your bike with mineral spirits & water than blow-dry it after washing or when you come home after rain, you would not be in that situation. Been doing this for 39 years and the old timers told me then. You can buy paint thinner (cheep Mineral Spirits) @ home depot for $7/gal. Mix 50% water/thinner spray in a fog. Blow dry, & wipe down than polish with wax. Also removes road grime.
