Pulled the ignition switch out to install a radio from the front and I'm not quite sure if everything is kosher. The black plastic piece that has the labels printed on it is kind of lifted up slightly, and the radio sticks out enough that the ignition switch contacts it in the accessory and fork lock position. I tried testing the fork locks to make sure it turns far enough to lock the forks and what happens is when I turn the switch to the left the forks lock like they should. I turn the key to the lock position, and I found that I'm still able to turn the ignition switch. The forks stay locked but it looks like I might be able to start it and everything with the forks locked. When I turn the switch back and use the key and push down and turn it to the unlock position the forks do unlock. Does that sound right? Are you supposed to be able to turn the ignition switch while the forks are locked?
I should also add that I was working on my bike in my storage unit and I got harassed by the manager and told I'm not allowed to work on my bike in the storage facility. So I had to put it back together before I was finished and I took it to the dealership. So it was actually Harley finished the installation which means they would have had to have taken the ignition switch out and put it back in. They didn't say that they noticed anything wrong with anything
I have a soundstream reserve installed. The touchscreen faceplate sticks out a lot. There's not supposed to be contact with the ignition switch but there is. And this is after moving the fairing back and doing everything volunteer audio suggests. Although I was not able to finish the install myself I don't think Harley just didn't push it in all the way.
But either way I don't know if the ignition switch is misaligned (by myself or Harley) or if it just can't fully turn because of contacting the faceplate. I'm gonna have to complain to Harley because I wouldn't have even finished installing if I couldn't get full clearance and I'm not sure why or how they did.
Check VA's page. Tolerance seem to be identical to yours.
I've watched all their videos about it several times. I don't know if you just can't tell from the photo, but in the fork lock position it makes full contact and appears to stop before hitting 100%. A piece of paper is trapped between the radio and ignition switch and rips getting pulled out. This is NOT how they advertise their installs.
