Default Ultra classic problems

Hey yall new to the forum but looking to get some help. I have a 08 ultra classic no mods other than a dragos bike works exhaust, bike has 28k on the odo. So the issue ever so often I’ll be riding and it will die, drop rpm’s, start then backfire. I have no idea what the issue could be and the only thing that seems to help is disconnecting the battery for a few hours then problem goes away for a few days. When it dies it take’s a few seconds and it starts its self again. It’s almost like it’s key banging itself. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does it do it when you coast to a stop? Clean the IAC port if that is it. Behind air cleaner about 11 oclock. Spray sensor cleaner in as you turn ignition on and off.

I’ll try that and yes it does ever so often but most of the time it’s while going down the road.

My issue is coasting to a stop. Usually after running hard.

not even while riding hard, this morning it did it 3 times on my way to work, first time was maybe 10 seconds after I left the house. I tried your suggestion with no luck btw.

Have you done the most obvious and checked the battery connections? Loose connectors cause many issues.

Welcome to the forum.

yup that was my first thought aswell, went through every plug I could find made sure they where all tight and even pulled most them apart to make sure there was no corrosion or brakes internally. Only real thing I’ve seen online was the tscm and the on/off switch.

Barely an hour ago I suggested that. Tried it and it failed already. I would be reluctant to leave the house

Have you checked for codes? Hold trip button down, turn bike on.
