Surprised mine lasted 5+ yrs in Phoenix, that's like a lifetime for a battery here. Duracell Ultra & it wasn't totally dead but it was starting slower & slower. Have a Big Crank installed now & no complaints.
I swear by a battery tender. I also keep my lawn mower on a tender. That battery is also 8 yrs old and still going strong. The Harley battery was still good but was starting to crank a bit slow. It probably could have last a bit longer. I just didn't want to chance it
Just replaced my original battery in my 2017 street glide. I think 8 yrs out of a battery is pretty good. Its always on a trickle charger when not being ridden. The old battery was still functioning fine. I have a bike trip coming up and i was afraid it might die all of a sudden and leave me stranded so i went ahead and replaced it. What are yall seeing out of a Harley battery?
I bought my bike in July of 2017. Knock on wood, it is still on the original battery and has rarely been plugged into a trickle charger.
5 years is the norm for HD batteries on the tender when not riding. I once got 12 years from an HD battery in my Sportster that I basically rode once a year. Always on the charger for the 12 years, didn't get used much but still.
8 years on a battery is as good as I have ever seen. I keep all bike bikes and equipment on tenders and usually see 5-6 years best.
I've mentioned this before ... 2009 FLHTCU is on the second ( first replacement ) battery ... OE went 8 years and I replaced it for peace of mind with a Battery Mart Big Crank that is still doing the job and tests ( Load Test ) fine ... Yes I keep it on a Battery Tender ":>)
Congrats on the battery longevity.
