Hi. I 'am wanting to buy a set of lowering shocks for my 2007 Electra glide. The stock length is 13"in. eye-to-eye.And Progressive has an 11.5" in. shock eye-to-eye. So, my question is does anyone run an 11.5"in. shock on there touring bike? I just don't want to get a shock that is so low that my tire will get into the wiring under my fender orget into my belt drive. And what do you think about Progressive shocks. Please let me know......
It depends on the weight of you and a rider, if youre little light people you might be ok. But two large riders can make the 12" ones rub on a Street glide even at full pressure. Progressive has different spring rates, I would get a stiff one, but then the ride will suck. Try a lowering kit like this then you get a lower rear and no loss of tire travel, plus its alot cheaper.
i have a set of 11.5 inch 440s, but i ride solo all the time. they do tend to bottom out occassionally (la roads suck!) but i really needed them for getting my feet closer to the ground. the ride does not seem any worse than the 12 inch air shocks that came stock (road king custom) but that extra half inch sure makes pushing that big b*tch backward a whole lot easier!
gunrunner: looked at that link, thought if i could get a lowering kit, i could then add an inch to the shocks and get a cushier ride, maybe its just me, but i couldn't find anything to fit a newer touring bike. the closest was an 05, except road king classic (?) i wonder why that one?

Thanks.
I live next to a guy that works for progressive. When he was ordering mine he asked if i do lot of 2up riding. Its about 50/50 for me so i ordered the 12 inch 440's.Next he asked how much we weight together.which is about 360lbs,so we ordered with heavy duty springs.I am very happy with the shocks i ordered, easy to adjust and a superior ride over the stock air shocks..
I have the 11.5 on my Road Glide and I'll tell you the ride is way better over the stock shocks. My bike is set up for solo riding with a tour pack. The only thine they bottom out is when I am fully loaded and hit a HARD bump. I weigh about 220 then plus the gear so maybe this will give you some useful information.
