Default Question About Stock Fairings

I'm getting ready to paint the aftermarket fairing I will be running on my RK Classic and I was wondering, for those of you with Electra Glides, is the inner fairing painted a flat black or is it painted the same color as the outer half / bike color?

Now for opinions: Since I can paint it however I want, would you think painting the inner fairing the same color as the bike would look better or stick to the factory design? My bike is primarily vivid black with a bit of lava red on the bottom part of the gas tank.

Thanks for your input.....

If you mean inner fairing as the "instrument panel" part, yes, mine is black on my 06 Electra Glide. I think the color coded version is offered as an accessory.

They come black...

SE's come in colors, and they look pretty sweet. I would consider painting it some other color.

They come flat black, but have seen them other colors. Think a brillant red might make it. Also severla aftermarket companies make a wood grain option.

Brilliant red......?

hhmmmm....I'll have to give that some thought. I was leaning more towrds either flat or gloss black to match the bike.

Thanks for the replies.

There are pics somewhere on this forum of a YELLOW inner fairing...I liked the way it looked. I wouldn't do gloss, I would do flat...think about glare...

$.02

Hey Mac...

What color was the bike that had the yellow inner fairing?

Mikeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee's 2 peso's worth.

Colors are cool, but when I'm looking down the road and want to take a quick glance at my instruments (which is every mile or so) I really appreciate the black that the stock fairing has. There is no distraction with that color. All the instruments are easy to pick up quickly and nothing is glaring at me.

The stock color is somewhat of a gloss - somewhat of a flat. It doesnt get a glare and that is a plus. Now - my bike is Vivid black and of course you might say that that is too much black. But I believe if I had another color I would want the black anyway to help break up the color scheme somewhat.

I vote for black. Kinda like a satin black.

I would go flat (zero gloss) black inside and on the front life like flames!
