I posted this in another thread but didn't get any replies so I figured I'd make a new thread.
I have the optional spokes laced spokes on my '04 flhti which I like the looks of,but on my '97 flht I had the stock mags which I loved for ease of maintainence/reliability. My dad has an '05 RK custom with the fancy cast/mag wheels and wants to trade me for my spoke wheels. Will they be a direct fit to my bike? I think I'll take him up on the offer if they'll swap out easy.
I believe in 2002 the axles went to 1" on all tour models, so they should fit. If you look at any ChromePros listing on ebay, that seems to verify that. I wish I had those RKwheels your dad has, instead of the cast spoke wheels !

You have to go with what makes you happy, IMO. I like the look of some spoke wheels, especially the real fat spoke ones, but the thought of being at the mercy of tubes, having to tighten the spokes, and the cleaning, I will stick with cast wheels. Again, it is my opinion.
Lots of guys don't like the look of apes, but as you can tell, I love them, LOL. Enjoy the ride.
I agree with you about the tube issue..I'm not too fond of it either, but I just don't like the Rkcustom wheels as much.I do however have my eyes on some nice 18/18 or 21/18 combos, but have to wait untill my wallet will allow them.
BTW,I dig the apes on your bike...Looks mean
I, to, would love to get some custom wheels. But, the wife just will not allow it, right now. Someday, though. For me, an engine upgrade is first on my list.
Thanks about the apes comment. Funny you should say they look mean. My OL says I look like a real bad @ss when I am on my bike. At 6'1" and over 300 lbs, decked out in a leather jacket and shades, I do look to be a little mean. But, in reality, my kids will tell you I am a big ol' teddy bear. Unless, of course, I get angry. "You won't like me when I'm angry." LOL
