Change out the passenger footboards for plain rubber pegs and switch out your battery for a lithium-iron. Your RG now is the same weight as a RK.

When I test rode an early M8 Road Glide Special I was floored with how nimble it felt. Yes the RK may be a little more "nimble" but dang, I had no complaints at all with the RGS. Honestly there are so many advantages to the Road Glide once you get moving down the highway I personally wouldn't switch it out for a Road King. I try to set my bikes up for what they do most of the time (which in my case is going in a straight line). If you live in a big city and spend most of your time riding in it, I could see the advantage of a Road King. If you spend most of your time on the highway I would think the Road Glide is the better all around choice.

I also still have my 2003 FXDWG and love it. That being said I did add one tooth to the front pulley and installed a Baker six speed overdrive transmission to make it MUCH nicer on the highway. It also feels better around the backroads where I live with the extra tooth up front. Not as "jerky" and much easier riding.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Heritage softail? It will do most of what the Road King does, but weighs 100 pounds less.

I have owned:

- 2007 Road King w/ 96 CI engine (stage III kit)
- 2012 Electra Glide Standard w/ 103 CI engine (stage V kit)
- 2025 Road Glide 117 CI engine (stock)

You will never pry me off my new Road Glide. The handling, comfort, and power are impressive.

Well, I still have my 2001 WG. But I swapped the RG for an Indian Challenger. Not even comparable to the RG in terms of the ride or handling. Let the hate commence! lol

Indian is American made, the other brand I would consider

How do compare challenger and road glide?
