Default Confused

Not sure if anyone can help me but, after getting wrecked on my 06 Ultra firefighters edition, I find myself looking for another bike. I am fortunate to have a fantastic relationship with my dealership so finding a bike is no issue. But, I don't know which to buy. I've only owned two Harleys, my ultra and my 04 Soft tail. I know I will stay with a touring bike. I drove a 15 Ultra classic low and liked the bike (even if Im 6'5") But of course my friends All steer me to different bikes. know I need to test drive but I was curious what thoughts this group would have. In the end its up to me of course. I ride 3000 Miles a year thus far Mostly HOG tours. I would like to move to a Milwaukee 8 but its not a deal breaker (I am picky on color, Brighter)

You are correct, the only way to know is test ride 'em. Decisions, no fairing (Road King) or fairing, if you want a fairing, then fork mounted (Street Gide) or frame mounted (Road Glide).
Another thought to confuse even more, have you considered a Heritage? Have fun testing and good luck.

Having a fantastic relationship with your Dealer may give you the opportunity to take a few late model used bikes for long test rides. See if they have a M8 Roadglide that's stock. I have a 2021 RG Limited and it's the most comfortable bike I've owned.

Good luck!

No Glide like a Road Glide. Ride some and see if you like it.

At 6'5", consider the off lease police bikes. Some have less than 2000 miles in two years. The police seat on my 2019 FLHTP is great for me at 6'7" with 36 inch inseam. The police seat is great for my bad knees and hips.

Setting it up for two person traveling is about $2000.

Other than that, you'll probably be looking at a TallBoy seat that raises you up about an inch and back 1-1.5 inches.

You may like the Police seat due to your height, but don't feel you need a police bike to get the police seat.

On a '14+ Touring bike, the corresponding year Police seat will bolt right up.

I purchased the Police seat & hardwre used off eBay, and got a Mustang seats passenger pillion that matches with the police seat, for my wife. It looks good, and is very comfortable.

There are only two downsides.

The first is that it makes it harder to get to the battery

The second is that as comfortable as the Police seat is, it doesn't compare to my Russell Day Long seat, which is still my go-to seat for multi-day trips. The Russell is a taller seat like the Police seat.

Full disclosure, I m 5'8" w/31" inseam. Both seats could be a challenge for someone with a shorter inseam than I have.

I hope some of this info helps..

Good luck with your search...!
