Hi all, I am relatively new here, but have been lurking for quite a while now. I will be purchasing a new 07 RK when I get back home in a few days. during one of the conversations I had with my salesman, he offered a "Dyno Break In" for $75.00.
While this is not my first time on a bike, it ismy first Harley, as well as my first new bike. I am curious what everyone else thinks concerning paying to have this done, I understand the importance of doing a proper Break In. I am just not sure I would benefit in any way by paying someone else to do it.
I've never heard of a dyno break in. How would that be better than you riding it and following theirregular break in recommendations for 500 miles? What exactly do they do other than remove $75.00 from your wallet?
I don't know for sure what will be done, or how it will be done. He just told me that for the money they could do it in about 1.5 hours on the dyno. I was already skeptical, but I am still keeping an open mind in the event someone here knows more than I do about it.
At this point, I don't plan to have him do it for me unless someone here comes out with something to change my mind.
All they are going to do is put it on the dyno, and run the bike for 1.5 hours at varying speeds to make sure the rings are seated and everything is done right.
In other words............a waste of $75.
Buy the bike, go easy on it for the first 1000 miles, change the fluids, then ride it like you stole it.

Can I get some opinions on what they would do?
Thanks,

Why the 07 instead of the 08. If you stay with the 07, get them to throw in the IDS as a precaution.
I was trying to find an article I thought I saved that went into detail how to do the quick breakin yourself and the benefits. It grabbed my attention but I have not used that method yet.
