lowering kits
If you are 5'7" or shorter, you can certainly benefit from any of the options below. However, if you are an aggressive rider or do 2 up, be careful of the budget options since you dont want your suspension bottoming out or damaging your rear wiring harness under the rear fender.
Front Lowering Kits
Good if you want a balanced drop-in look and cleaner install.- Progressive Drop‑In Fork Lowering Kit Simple install, drops up to ~2″ without full teardown; quality build at mid-price. Easy home install.
- Progressive Touring Fork Lowering Kit Slightly more specific to Touring forks; proven springs and spacers.
- Burly HD Low Boy Fork Kit A budget alternative with a classic lower front stance look; typically more basic spring design.
🔻 Rear Lowering & Blocks
Front + rear balance is key for stable handling and correct geometry.- Burly Lowering Block Kit Simple blocks that drop the rear without full shock replacement; good budget choice but can compromise travel.
- Burly Rear Suspension Lowering Kit Dedicated rear bolt-on kit that typically drops ~1″; decent quality for price.
- Hogworkz 2″ Lowering Kit and Hogworkz Harley Touring Lowering Kit Lowering links/adjustable kits that drop more (~12″) with good price but check fitment for your year/model.
🧰 Full Suspension Lowering
Best if you want both front and rear lowered in one cohesive system.- Progressive/Burly Slammer Full Suspension Kit Combined kit aiming for a coordinated drop; more money but balanced stance and better integrated performance.
Recently bought a 2024 FLHTP Electra Glide Police. I could get my toes down but not much more. I put a set of Advanblack blocks on the rear to lower it 2 inches. Better but still needed some more.
Called local HD dealer's service manager, who also was my indy shop owner for years before. I asked about lowering the forks. So the bike is there to put a Progressive spring kit in to lower the front.
He also says there's a good chance that the blocks will sooner or later cause the shocks to rub against the inside of the bags. They basically just change the angle of the stock shock and set the bottom further rearward to lower it.
I decided that for a probable better ride and to eliminate the potential bag rubbing problem I had them order shorter Progressive shocks and that's being done while the bike is there. Again, my experience in this area is all new. Never had to lower the 2002 Fat Boy that I've been riding since it was new. Just providing some things for guys to think about. And if you aren't sure yourself run it by someone you trust.
It's February on the NY/Canada border so I won't be test riding it for a while yet. My only riding on the bike has been in stock form on the 10 mile test ride when I bought it in January in Daytona.
BTW those Advanblack blocks and the stock cop bike shocks will be for sale as soon as I get the bike back!

And if anyone knows of a way to lower the cop seat I'd be interested. I like the look and replaced the stock seat with a Mustang solo with backrest. It retains the use of the stock seat shock & spring. But that adds an inch and a half or so in height.

Your Street Glides already have one inch less suspension travel than standard Harley touring bikes do. For me personally I would want to at least keep the stock suspension travel on a Street Glide. Some long distance riders actually put the Road King or Electra Glide length shocks on those bikes to get a better ride and ground clearance.
A lot can be done with swapping around seats and adjusting or changing handlebars. I got a budget Rush Racing gel seat that was really comfortable and it put me much lower to the ground, which was a problem for me because I'm 6'2. Jerrey Palladino has a good video talking about ride/seat height and he demonstrates a bunch of seats on full height tuoring bikes with his Wife who is 5'3. Might give you some ideas that would get your feet closer to the ground without sacrificing ride quality and safety.

Within the first 300 miles I bought a Mustang brand touring model seat (slightly narrowed) from a seller on eBay that was the perfect solution for me. Bottom line: FIRST try a different seat AND boots with a thicker sole too (I wear Durango Stirrup boots with thicker soles) before you mess with any sort of lowering. HD engineers spend a lot of time on geometry so I'd start trying seat and boots first.
