Thanks.....!!
I didn't realize the Canadian bikes came from Thailand.. I always thought they came from Brazil, but never knew for sure. Just seemed cheaper to ship to Canada from Brazil than any of the other off shore plants..
I'll bet a lot has changed due to the tariff stuff going on...

They used to deal only with one company, that imported all HD motorcycles to Canada, and then was the Canadian distributor of Harley Motorcycles. That started in the 70s and ended around 2018ish... I think. I used to read a lot of complaints by Canadians about the monopoly that company controlled in Canada. I forget the name of that company...
I believe Canadian HD bikes have been from the US until very recently.
My comment was from the perspective that since all this tariff stuff started, if Canada started buying bikes from offshore factories to save $$$$, I would think Brazil would be the best choice..

But apparently, that's not the case...
I probably didn't say it right...
We buy lots of stuff from China. So maybe shipping cost is not driver
I remember reading complaints that Canadians had issue getting us parts and all kinds of stuff.
From Google:
No, not all Harley-Davidson VINs start with "1HD1". While 1HD1 represents a domestic (U.S.-made) heavy-weight motorcycle, other prefixes exist, such as 5HD1 for international markets, 932 for Brazil, or MLY for Thailand. The prefix is determined by the market, manufacturing location, and size of the motorcycle.
Maybe so, but I have owned 5 Harleys over the past 20+ years and all of the VINs started with 1HD1.
